Ulster Suffer Heavy Defeat in Challenge Cup Final

Ulster's wait for silverware continues after a 59-26 defeat to Montpellier in the ECPR Challenge Cup Final.

Ulster suffered a heavy defeat to Montpellier which ended as 59-26 in Bilbao.

The French side ran in nine tries at San Mamés Stadium, with Ulster unable to cope with Montpellier's physical dominance, particularly in the second-half.

Nick Timoney, Cormac Izuchukwu, Robert Baloucoune, and Mike Lowry all crossed for Ulster but Richie Murphy's side were chasing the game from early on after Montpellier built a 26-12 half-time lead.

The defeat means Ulster's wait for a first major trophy in 20 years continues, while they return to the Challange Cup next season.
