Tipperary's Fergal Horgan says he's 'at ease' with his decision to retire from inter-county refereeing.

Having taken charge of three All-Ireland hurling finals, he told Tipperary Mid-West Radio that a lack of appointments was part of his decision.

Horgan says he's 'disappointed' with the way he was treated by Croke Park and described the current appointments process as 'a farce.'

SOCCER

Alana Cook's goal was the difference as the United States beat the Republic of Ireland by a goal to nil in an international friendly overnight.

Ireland - who started well in Missouri - were unable to reverse the deficit in the second half.

Vera Pauw's side now have a break in action until June, when they face Zambia in Dublin.

Ireland's first World Cup opponents in July, Australia, secured a notable 2-0 win over European champions England last night.

Manchester City have one foot in the Champions League semi-finals.

The Premier League side beat Bayern Munich 3-0 last night, in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland were on the mark to give City the advantage ahead of the trip to Germany next week.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan beat Benfica 2-0 in Lisbon.

Tonight, holders Real Madrid host Chelsea in the first leg of their last eight tie.

That game kicks-off in the Spanish capital at 8-o'clock while at the same time there's an all Italian affair as AC Milan host Napoli.
