Wednesday Morning Sports Update

Keeping you up to date on soccer, rugby, and racing.

SOCCER

Arsenal are through to the English League Cup final after completing a 4-2 aggregate win over Chelsea in their semi-final tie last night.

The Gunners will face either Manchester City or Newcastle in the decider.

City take a 2-nil lead into tonight's second leg at the Etihad, where kick off is at 8pm.

Troy Parrott scored an extra-time winner to help A-Z Alkmaar book their place in the Dutch Cup semi-finals.

They were eventual 2-1 winners over Twente.

After league leaders Hearts suffered defeat to St Mirren last night, Celtic can take advantage in the Scottish Premiership this evening.

The Hoops go to Aberdeen, where a win would move them to within three points of the summit.

Kick-off at Pittodrie is at 8 o'clock.

While at 7:45pm, Rangers are in action at home to Kilmarnock.

RUGBY

Ireland head coach Andy Farrell says Bundee Aki will be considered for selection for the final two games of the Six Nations.

The Connacht centre will miss the opening three games of the Championship, as part of a suspension for misconduct towards URC match officials.

RACING

There's a seven-race card at Punchestown this afternoon, just before 12:30pm.
