Irish officers took part in the Europol operation
Gardaí have assisted in arresting 10 people in Spain, suspected of being involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.
Europol said the operation aims to 'clamp down on the lavish lifestyle' of this cartel.
Spanish authorities, Gardaí, officers from around Europe and the US Drug Enforcement Agency were all part of this two phase action against a particular criminal organisation.
In the first phase last year, officers found information that linked 10 people with bringing 117 tons of hashish and three tonnes of cocaine into Spain.
Those 10 were arrested recently in four cities across Spain.
One of those in custody is a lawyer, who specialises in cases related to drug trafficking.
The group imported boats from the Netherlands to Portugal, and used them to collect and transfer drugs from Morocco to Spain.
A year into the operation, officers have seized three vessels, 11 properties, 36 luxury cars and 58 bank accounts.
In total 27 people have been arrested.
