Google's been fined €890million by the European Commission.

It consists of two decisions relating to the Digital Markets Act.

The fines are for self-preferencing its own services on Google Search and putting in place restrictions on businesses to direct consumers to alternative, often cheaper purchase channels on Google Play.

However, the Commission also noted that after constructive dialogue Google has already taken steps to address the issues.

Google's criticised the fines, saying regulation should improve products not make them worse.

It says the implementation of the Digital Markets Act continues to break everyday products and to comply, the company has to strip away real-time search facilities Europeans love.
