Allen Parish has issued a warning to parishioners after reports of alleged unauthorised collections taking place outside three local churches last weekend.
Individuals were seen claiming to be collecting on behalf of the “Irish Soup Run” shortly after Mass.
Parish officials have confirmed that no permit was issued for the collection, and checks with the Register of Charities could not verify that the Irish Soup Run is a registered charity.
According to the newsletter, one collector claimed “the permit is with the Bishop".

Parish representatives warned that such bogus collections harm the reputation of legitimate charities and urged parishioners to remain vigilant when approached for donations.
