Kildare Animal Shelters Are Reaching Crisis Point

The cost of living has led to many shelters reaching full capacity.

A large number of animal shelters across Kildare and the rest of the country are reaching crisis point.

The Dublin County dog shelter in Newcastle is the latest to reach capacity with dogs having to sleep outside in crates.

The cost of living and continued fallout from Covid lockdowns, has led to many shelters reaching full capacity.

The DSPCA's Gillian Bird says the housing crisis is affecting pets too - with families finding it difficult to find suitable accomodation:
