Joe Eustace

The creativity of locals has been celebrated at this year's event.

A total of 13 medals were awarded to participants from Kildare at this year's Bord Bia's Bloom.

In the Show Gardens category, Brigid 1500 Commemorative Garden, designed by Heritage Design Group and supported by Brigid 1500, won a Bronze Medal. This concept garden, inspired by the legacy of St. Brigid, showcased innovative design elements that resonated with the historical significance of Kildare.

Citroën Floating Lounge Garden, crafted by Joe Eustace and sponsored by Citroën Ireland, earned the highest accolades in the medium-sized garden category. The garden received a Gold Medal and was also named Best in Category. The floating lounge design impressed judges with its creative integration of relaxation spaces and water features, reflecting the modern aesthetic of the county.

In the Postcard Garden category, The Cloak and the Oak by Mr. Dunne’s fifth class from St. Brigid’s Primary School in Kildare town, was awarded a Certificate of Distinction. This garden, designed by young students, captivated the judges with its thematic representation and educational value.

Kildare’s plant nurseries also shone brightly at the awards. Doran Nurseries, represented through Irishplants.ie, received a Silver-Gilt medal, as did their separate entry, The Bee’s Knees. Both entries from the Naas-based nursery highlighted the quality and diversity of plants cultivated in the region.

Woodview Plants, another Naas-based nursery, garnered a Silver Medal for its impressive array of plant species, contributing to Kildare's strong presence in the horticultural community.

In the AOIFA Floral Art category, talented floral artists from Kildare achieved remarkable success. Adrienne Thompson of Naas Flower and Garden Club secured a Bronze Medal for her piece in the “Fireworks” class, while Maureen Fagan of Maynooth Flower and Garden Club won a Silver-Gilt medal in the “Rustic Charm” class. Additionally, Avril Maher from the same club received a Bronze Medal for her “Strata” class arrangement.
