The Government has been leasing the site since 2020.
Cabinet has given approval for the State to purchase Dublin's Citywest Hotel and Convention Centre.
It's currently used for housing international protection applicants and those fleeing the war in Ukraine, and has the capacity to accommodate 2,300 people.
