There are calls for Uisce Éireann to provide weekly updates regarding roadworks on Maynooth road
It comes as roadworks are taking place from March 30th until June 16th to facilitate works for the Crodaun Waste Water Network Upgrade.
Fianna Fáil Councillor for Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District David Trost had raised the motion at a recent meeting asking for the utility to provide weekly updates on the progress of roadworks on the Maynooth road.
Speaking on Kildare Today, he said he raised concerns about the likelihood of people contacting Kildare County Council instead of Uisce Éireann in such situations, adding that "ongoing changes are causing confusion and uncertainty".
In response, Kildare County Council said that the works are managed by Uisce Éireann and that the elected members "should use their members channel to correspond with Uisce Éireann".
Kfm earlier reported that a burst water main on the Maynooth road forced schools in the Leixlip and Celbridge areas to close, due to the buildings having no water.
A separate water outage also impacted North Kildare over the weekend, which has resulted in Social Democrats and Kildare North TD Aidan Farrelly to seek speaking time in the Dáil to call on the Government to take charge of Uisce Éireann.
