Cost Of Living Squeeze: Grocery Inflation Drives Some Locals To Start Christmas Shopping Early

The price of groceries is now climbing at its fastest level in almost two years.

Some locals are doing their Christmas shopping earlier this year in an attempt to spread the cost.

Figures from Worldpanel by Numerator show spending on special offers has climbed to 21 point 9 per cent value share in the market.

The research found that that the rate of grocery inflation stood at 6 point 5 per cent in the 12 months to October.

The last time prices were recorded increasing at this rate was December 2023.
