Kildare County Council have flagged a number of safety concerns in relation to a River Liffey swimming spot between Naas and Newbridge.
It comes as there have been calls for further improvements to safety and access at the swimming spot in Yeomanstown.

It follows a shared motion from local councillors Rob Power and Noel Heavey.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Fianna Fáil Councillor for Kildare-Newbridge MD Rob Power argued that people will ultimately be swimming there, and that it would be better to focus on making it safer for them:
"From a practical point of view, that if people are swimming there, it's about how can we take approaches to make it safer.
"There's this discussion about making something safe, asking how do we add car parks and toilets, but we don't need to have all of the bells and whistles for something basic, in general we should be able to take small measures to improve local amenities like that.
Cllr Power added that people in Newbridge are "crying out for a swimming space".
"They're crying out for a swimming space, ideally a pool, but ultimately they're moving to rivers and canals."
KCC cited financial barriers for it being a dedicated swimming spot.
Other key issues included concerns that the location is problematic from a viewpoint of safe pedestrian and cycle access, as well as water concerns due to rainfall levels of the Winter months necessitating flow release from Poulaphouca Reservoir, which has significant impacts downstream.
They confirmed that it doesn't meet the conditions for a designated bathing spot, and would in fact be erecting further no swimming signs and would again appreciate the members cooperation in delivering this safety message.
They concluded that they would be willing to contact Water Safety Ireland and commission an official risk assessment of the site but is flagging that a range of factors are strongly suggesting this is a dangerous location and swimming should be discouraged rather than encouraged there.
