Figures from the child and family agency show it received reports of around 9,625 issues relating to child welfare in Kildare, as well as Dublin and Wicklow.

In a statement, Tusla says it's "experiencing an unprecedented demand across all service types" and "cases have been prioritised on a risk basis".
It says of the 2,168 referrals in Dublin South Central, 61 per cent were closed following screening and didn't warrant further inquiry.
