Driving Instructor Says Faded Road Markings In Naas Linked To Learner Drivers Failing Tests

Kildare County Council said requests for new or refreshed road markings are added to its works schedule, with repainting usually carried out during drier months.

It's been claimed that faded road markings in areas throughout the county, including Naas, are causing confusion for learner drivers and contributing to driving test failures.

Ladybird Driving School said stop lines and other markings in parts of the town are so worn they can be impossible to see, particularly in wet or foggy conditions, leading some learners to drive through junctions and receive automatic fails.

Director Clodagh Branagan told the Journal.ie that instructors have repeatedly encountered the issue in Naas and other areas outside the county, describing the situation as frustrating for both learners and testers.

While the Road Safety Authority states learners should not be penalised for mistakes caused by faded markings, Branagan said interpretation can vary between examiners.
