A Kildare TD sits on the committee, before which Maynooth U. expert will appear.
The Energy Charter Treaty, energy security, data centres and liquid natural gas will top the bill at a meeting of the Joint Committee Environment and Climate Action today.
Kildare North Sinn Fein TD, Réada Cronin, is a member of the committee.
It ill hear from Maynooth University's Dr. Patrick Bresnihan, along with experts from DCU and Queen's University, Ontario.
Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “Issues around the Energy Charter Treaty, energy security, the use of liquid natural gas and the growth of data centres in Ireland have all become matters of political and public concern here. We have invited these experts in their fields to meet with the Committee to discuss the implications all these will have for Ireland and for managing climate change and reducing emissions in the short, medium and longer term.”
