The 17-acre park site is located on the Dublin Road
Kildare County Council has appointed Donnelly Civil Engineering to construct the first phase of a new park in Kildare town.
It's seen as an important step towards delivering Cherry Avenue Park for the area.
The 17-acre park site is located on Dublin Road in Kildare Town.
The land formerly formed part of the National Stud before the construction of the M7 motorway.
Initial works will include grading the site to create the levels required for the park’s different features.
The existing entrance will be upgraded to provide pedestrian and cycle access, and a new car park will be constructed. Circulation paths, seating and landscaping will also be installed throughout the site.
The initial masterplan for Cherry Avenue Park was prepared by M-CO.
Murray & Associates Landscape Architects completed the detailed design for the first phase and will oversee the construction works with Kildare County Council.
Other members of the design team include Donnachadh O’Brien & Associates (Civil and Structural Engineer and Project Supervisor Design Process) and Levins Associates (Quantity Surveyors). The initial phase of works is scheduled for completion in 2028.
