Gardai are understood to be monitoring social media posts.
Several local representatives and TDs were advised by Gardai not to attend a planned protest in Kilcock last night, citing concerns that it would be hijacked by agitators.
The advice, reportedly given by Gardai monitoring social media channels, has raised a number of questions.
Speaking to Kfm, a local representative confirmed they were contacted by Gardai and urged to avoid the protest for their safety.
One representative said the warning cited "ongoing monitoring" in and around Kilcock, though no specific threat was communicated.
“We were told it was best not to go,” the source said. “That the situation was being watched closely.”
On plans for the Shalom nursing home in Kilcock, the source said “There has been no clear information. It’s not as if we’re avoiding the issue - we’re trying to get answers.”
Concerns have been raised about the impact of a lack of information.
That's after a foreign national was approached near Shalom Nursing Home last night and questioned about why he was in the area and where he was going.
The man asked why he was being recorded.
“It feels like certain groups are being singled out,” said one representative. “That’s not acceptable. Everyone has the right to walk the streets and take part in peaceful demonstrations.”
Community leaders are calling for clear communication from authorities to avoid confusion and ensure that all residents feel safe and informed.
“Without facts, fear takes over,” the representative said. “That’s what we’re seeing now.”
