People in Kildare will be able to avail of free heart and hearing health checks when two mobile health units visit Athy next week.
The Irish Heart Foundation and Hidden Hearing will be at Athy Library on Thursday, August 13th, from 10am until 3:45pm, with no appointment required.
Visitors can have their blood pressure and pulse checked as part of efforts to identity high blood pressure and other potential cardiovascular risks at an early stage.
Irish Heart Foundation nurses will also provide advice on maintaining good heart health, while the checks can help identify an irregular heartbeat known as atrial fibrillation.
Hidden Hearing will meanwhile offer free hearing health assessments, including earwax checks and video otoscopy to examine ear health.
The Irish Heart Foundation's Mobile Health Unit carries out up to 10,000 free blood pressure checks around the country each year.
