Housing For All plan
The government says it will exceed its target in its Housing For All Plan this year.
The scheme plans to provide around 33,000 homes a year on average until 2030.
In a statement released this afternoon the government said it's confident the 2022 target of 24,600 homes will be exceeded.
A Irish Institutional Property report in August noted 50,000 homes need to be built annually - for the next 30 years - to keep up with demand.
According to CSO figures published last week, 748 homes were built in Co. Kildare during the third quarter of this year.
The figures in Co. Kildare's Local Electoral Areas:
Athy: 34
Celbridge: 105
Clane: 36
Kildare: 125
Leixlip: 40
Maynooth: 53
Naas: 166
Newbridge: 189
