KCC Extend Completion Date Of Rathangan Estate To March 2027

Kildare County Council has said that it anticipates the regeneration of St. Patrick's Park in Rathangan will be completed by March 2027.

The original target date had been December of this year, but that has been extended due to what the council describes as "unforeseen" underground issues with electrical and water services.

This development has resulted in the resequencing of the works at the Rathangan site.

The works involve the refurbishments of ten housing units as well as two new build houses as well.

A further five units are at various stages of progress.

KCC has said that the new builds are "substantially complete".

Speaking on Kildare Today, Sinn Féin Councillor for Kildare-Newbridge MD Noel Connolly described the situation as "a long-running saga".

"I've been on this show a good few times about St. Patrick's Rathangan, it's been a long-running saga, residents have been very very patient, I hope that they'll be proud of the result because it looks good on paper, but the proof in the pudding is always in the eating."

Cllr Connolly also remarked that he hoped for the site to be open for St. Patrick's Day 2027.

"The finish line is in sight, St. Patrick's Park will hopefully have a happy St. Patrick's Day next March."
