Kildare Ranks Fifth For "Most Stretched" Builders In Ireland

New research has found Kildare is the fifth "most stretched" county when it comes to builders.

The study by Fieldmotion, analysed the number of homes built based on the amount of tradespeople in each of the 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland.

The county completed 2,174 new dwellings in 2025, with a construction workforce of 7,999.

While that's down about 17% from its 2022 peak of 2,624, it's still a "serious amount of work".

This leaves Kildare with a score of 101, above the national average of 100.

Louth topped the listings with a score of 165, followed by Dublin, Wicklow and Laois.

The study adds that, in actual fact, a single home takes a team of tradespeople months, often years, to finish.

As a result, workers are "tied up" in far more building than the completed figure suggests.

Set against the workload, Kildare's trade is still doing more per person than most of the country.

And with one of the fastest-growing populations in Ireland and its position right beside Dublin, that demand looks set to keep climbing, according to the report.
