A new report on library performance across the country shows a strong recovery in membership, borrowing and visitor numbers in 2024.
The number of registered members increased to 795,819, up by over 10,000 on the previous year.
Kildare saw active engagement, with a near 30 percent rise in registrations - helped by the opening of the Naas Library and Cultural Centre.
The number of people registered in libraries across the county last year stood at 40,116.
The number of items borrowed across the country, according to the National Oversight and Audit Commission, rose to more than 17.4 million, a 7.6 percent increase on 2023.
