Superbowl won overnight by Los Angeles Rams

GAELIC GAMES

Kildare suffered their second defeat in a row in the Allianz National Hurling League Division 2A yesterday, losing out 4-18 to 2-16 against Kerry in Tralee. 

Kildare led for the majority of the game, but Kerry turned the match around in injury time. 

Kildare's game is against Down in Ballycran, in two weeks' time.

A late free from Jason Forde saw Tipperary beat Kilkenny in Division One yesterday.

They were 1-19 to 1-18 winners at Semple Stadium in their Group B game.

Elsewhere in Group B, Waterford beat Laois 7-31 to 19 points.

In Group A, Wexford enjoyed a 2-20 to 1-20 win over Clare, while Cork were 4-25 to 1-15 winners over Offaly.

The Kildare women's team got their Lidl National Football League campaign off to a winning start yesterday.

They defeated Wexford in Shelmaliers GAA club 3-11 to 0-8, limiting their opponents to just 0-1 in the first half. 

Next up, they play Longford away this coming weekend.

Kildare Manager Sean Finnegan: 

Defending champions Dublin also began their campaign with a win.

They overcame the challenge of Waterford in Division 1B by 4-7 to 1-4.

SOCCER

Newcastle gave their Premier League survival prospects another boost yesterday.

Kieran Trippier's free-kick handed them a 1-0 win over Aston Villa - their third victory in a row.

Wolves were 2-0 winners away to Tottenham while Liverpool beat Burnley 1-0.

Leicester and West Ham played out a 2-2 draw.

Athy Town lost out to Pike Rovers of Limerick in the last 32 of the FAI Junior Cup yesterday. 

The full-time score in Aldridge Park was 3-0.

Elsewhere, on Saturday, Prosperous United U16s were beaten 2-0 by Clare's Bridge United in the last 32 of the SFAI Cup. 

WINTER OLYMPICS

Kamila Valieva will be able to compete at the Winter Olympics again.

It's after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled no suspension should be imposed after she failed a drugs test.

It said banning the 15-year-old Russian figure skater from the games in Beijing would have caused her "irreparable harm".

She's favourite to take gold in tomorrow's individual final..

RUGBY

England are up to second in the Six Nations table.

Eddie Jones' side beat Italy by 33 points to no score in Rome yesterday.

Ireland welcome the Italians to Dublin on Sunday, 27th February.

GOLF

Scottie Scheffler claimed his first PGA Tour win last night.

The American overcame Patrick Cantlay in a play-off to land the Phoenix Open title.

Both players finished at 16-under-par, before Scheffler birdied the third play-off hole to take victory.

AMERICAN FOOTBALL

The Los Angeles Rams are celebrating a second-ever Super Bowl title.

They scored a late touchdown through Cooper Kupp to beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 last night.

The Rams are the second team to win a Super Bowl at their home venue, with the game having taken place at the SoFi Stadium.

Their head coach, Sean McVay, is the youngest-ever coach to lead a team to the title at the age of 36.
