New Course Record Expected For Liffey Descent

Historic canoe race starts in Straffan this afternoon.

The historic Liffey Descent is taking place through Kildare and Dublin this afternoon.

The 35km canoe race starts at midday and makes it way down 10 weirs along the River Liffey from the K-Club in Straffan to the Garda Boat Club in Dublin's Chapelizod around 2pm.

A new course record is expected today.

The race is taking place in May this year to deliver better water levels on the river for faster times.
