Newbury Demesne in Carbury has sold for €12.3million at an auction.
That's despite Carbury and Derrinturn Community Group calling for the State to acquire the property.
The online auction took place yesterday at Johnstown estate in Enfield at 3pm.
The site is 453 acres in total, with three acres of walled gardens aswell.
Speaking to Kfm news, Stephen Barry of Raymond Potterton Auctioneers said the auction attracted both "national and international interest".
He said that the site was purchased by a solicitor in trust of his client, with the client unknown at this time.
He also praised the previous owner for the condition of the site, remarking that they did an "incredible job" and that the site "has an awful lot going for it".
The house itself has also never fallen into dereliction in it's 250 years of existence, while the land was described as "unspoiled" with a "quality farm".
