A Garda who was set to stand trial for allegedly making a false report of a burglary, including the theft of jewellery, has had all criminal charges against her withdrawn.

Her case was brought before the Circuit Criminal Court in March last year, with a jury trial scheduled for February 24.
However, according to the Sunday Independent, the Courts Service has confirmed that the State entered a nolle prosequi, meaning all charges against her have been dropped.
Garda Somers, who had been suspended, was accused of insurance fraud against Allianz Insurance Ireland.
The alleged offence occurred on March 27, 2015.
She was also accused of making a false burglary report to a detective at Naas Garda Station.
Garda Somers first appeared before the District Court in 2021 in relation to the allegations, having previously been arrested and questioned about the case.
