One Dead, Eight Injured In Crashes Over Bank Holiday Weekend

Over 3,000 motorists were caught speeding during that time, with one travelling 34km/h in an 80km/h zone on the R148 in Broadford.

One person died and eight others were seriously injured in crashes over the bank holiday weekend.

Gardaí carried out just under 5 thousand breath tests during a special road safety operation between Thursday and yesterday.

Over 3,000 motorists were caught speeding during that time, with one travelling 34km/h in an 80km/h zone on the R148 in Broadford.

300 drivers were fined for using a mobile phone and more than 80 received a penalty notice for not wearing a seatbelt.
