Paul Mescal says he enjoyed getting buff for his new Gladiator movie but had to eat a lot of chicken.

Sharing Graham Norton's star studded couch with co-star Denzel Washington last night, Paul says getting fit for the role of a Roman fighter was fun but he likes to drink and smoke.

However actor Eddie Redmayne, who also joined the chat show with Saoirse Ronan, says he finds getting ripped for roles hellish.

Paul recalled the first time he met his double Oscar winning co-star on set.
