Shackleton Experience in Athy has won Best European Tourism Project at the British Guild of Travel Writers International Tourism Awards.
It comes just a year after their official opening, located in the heart of the town, acting as a much-needed tourist and historical outlet for visitors to the area.
The world-first visitor centre is dedicated entirely to the life and achievements of legendary polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, who was born just outside Athy.
On social media, they extended a "massive, heartfelt thank you to the Guild for this incredible recognition".
They also thanked Isabel Conway for the nomination, adding that "your support means the world".
"Thank you to everyone who has visited, supported, and shared our story. Here’s to keeping the spirit of exploration alive," they concluded.
