A Kildare-based project has been named a winner at the 2025 National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards.
The initiative, led by Tirlán in partnership with Age Friendly Ireland, was launched in May 2024 to make the company’s retail branches more accessible and welcoming for customers aged 60 and above.
Over 40 Age Friendly Champions have been trained to carry out walkability audits and customer surveys across branches.
Sonya Kavanagh, Chief Executive, Kildare County Council, said: "I am delighted to see a project from Kildare receive national recognition at this year’s Age Friendly Achievement and Recognition Awards. This initiative is a wonderful example of how creative, collaborative approaches can make a real difference to the lives of older people. I want to congratulate everyone involved in this achievement and look forward to seeing the impact the initiative makes across the county - and its potential to be replicated nationally.”
