Gardaí carried out the search of a residential property in the town
Some 3.5Kg of herbal cannabis has been seized following a search at a residential property in Kildare Town on Monday.
As part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized the drug with an estimated value of €70,000 following the search, under warrant.
A female in her forties was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Kildare Town Garda Station
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Kildare Divisional Drugs Unit.
This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding drug smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on phone number 1800 295 295.
