More than 500 bus stops across Kildare have been identified as needing upgrades, while the council says interim safety measures are not planned at Red Lane due to the nature of the road.

The call comes from the Social Democrats and is backed by several disability organisations.

In Kildare, a number of major projects are listed, including new school buildings at St Mary’s College in Naas, Curragh Community College, St Farnan’s in Prosperous, and a new special school at St Anne’s in the Curragh.

The rent equates to almost €20,000 a year, before household bills.
