There are calls for a greater Garda presence in towns and villages, following a recent spate of violent crimes.
Over the last few days, separate assaults have taken place in Kildare, Longford, and Dublin.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris has noted additional gardaí are needed to deal with rising demands.
