It follows a complaint from President Higgins.
The Dáil should sit an extra day a week at busier times to deal with backlogs of legislation, according to the Social Democrats.
It comes as the Business Committee, Chaired by Ceann Comhaire, Kildare's Seán O'Fearghail, will meet this afternoon to discuss a complaint from President Michael D Higgins about how the Oireachtas is handling new laws.
