It’s alleged an adult spectator ran onto the pitch and grabbed an underage player by the throat
The GAA’s Munster Council are investigating after a Under-9s player was allegedly assaulted over the weekend.
The Munster Council say they are awaiting a report from the underage hurling blitz at Dr Morris Park, which is beside Semple Stadium, on Saturday morning.
It’s alleged an adult spectator ran onto the pitch and grabbed an underage player by the throat.
The Munster Council say the blitz was one of many that were held across the province over the weekend, with 2,700 young people taking part.
They say it was an otherwise positive event and the alleged assault is disappointing.
Gardaí say they are also investigating what happened in Thurles.
This incident follows a series of flashpoints at club games in the last three months in different parts of the country.
