Cabinet meeting in Cork since 10.30am this morning
The Government is describing today as a significant day for the country, as details of the National Development Plan will be unveiled this afternoon.
Cabinet Ministers are meeting in Cork this morning to sign off on the €165 billion plan for capital investment.
The plan will reveal which capital projects will be prioritised over the next 10 years in terms of transport, housing and water infrastructure.
The Public Expenditure Minister has confirmed the plan will have a 2:1 spending breakdown of public transport versus roads.
Michael McGrath says that doesn’t mean road projects will be sacrificed:
The Green Party leader says not every road project in the new National Development Plan is guaranteed to happen.
Transport Minister Eamon Ryan says each project will be reviewed and assessed for climate impact.
The current leader of Fianna Fail Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said he expects the road projects committed to, will go ahead:
This morning his party colleague, Fianna Fail TD, James Lawless, joined Clem Ryan on this morning's 'Kildare Today' discussing his new appointment to Chair of a special commission to "review the aims & objectives" of the party:
