
HSE boss Bernard Gloster wants to see 10% of staff rostered weekend's by the end of June.
The Annual General Meeting of the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) took place yesterday in Killarney.
One of the central motions debated by IMO members concerned the rostering of consultants on weekends, including Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holiday periods.
Speaking at the event, HSE boss Bernard Gloster told the Irish Medical Organisation's that he wants up to 10 per cent of all healthcare staff to be rostered at weekends before the end of June.
However, doctors are concerned that, given the existing shortage of staff, that will result in increased pressure on weekdays.
