The Tánaiste says he will "not be pointing fingers" after an anonymous comment was made within his party about Minister Patrick O'Donovan's future in Cabinet.
It follows an article published by the Sunday Times recently, in which an unnamed Cabinet insider questioned whether the Culture Minister would make it past next year's reshuffle.
Minister O'Donovan is currently recovering in hospital, after falling ill while attending an EU Presidency event in Limerick.
Before the event, Patrick O'Donovan had criticised anonymous briefings questioning if his health would result in him losing his Cabinet position.
Harris has denied allegations he asked the Culture Minister Patrick O'Donovan to reconsider his position in Cabinet.
He added that he spoke to Patrick O'Donovan over the phone some time before he fell ill in Limerick.
Speaking earlier, the Tánaiste says it would be "futile" to find out who was behind the comment, labelling it as "hurtful" commentary that "will not be tolerated," and the Minister will be welcomed back to his cabinet duties "as soon as possible."
