A man and woman in their 70s were killed in a two car collision on the R173 at The Bush in county Louth, shortly after three o'clock yesterday afternoon.
The couple was pronounced dead at the scene an their bodies were removed to Louth County Hospital for post-mortem exams.
The driver of the second car, a man in his 30s, and a woman, also in her 30s, were airlifted to Beaumont and Mater hospitals for treatment of serious injuries.
Separately, a man in his 50s has died in a crash in Tipperary.
The single vehicle collision on the R505 in Dundrum happened yesterday evening, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to both collisions to come forward.
