TikTok says it's removed less than thirty videos related to wrong-way driving since last month's M9 crash, in which five teenagers were killed.

Committee chair Alan Kelly said X, formerly Twitter, was invited to appear multiple times and he did not appreciate the way it communicated its refusal.

Zachary Hecht from TikTok, told deputy Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere 1,600 videos have been flagged for subjects such as risky driving or the theft of vehicles since the crash.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the RSA were before an Oireachtas Transport Committee this morning to answer questions on recent incidents on motorways.

Over the last four years, an average of 77 cases of wrong-way driving have been recorded, but the real number is believed to be higher.

Director of Network Management at TII, Pat Maher says it would not be possible to install barriers on slip roads to prevent contra flow traffic, whilst Chief Operations Officer at the RSA, Brendan Walsh says motorway driving is among a list of changes being considered for the driving test.
