Youths Throw Stones And Smash House Window In Celbridge Estate

Gardaí are appealing for information after youths threw stones and fireworks at a number of houses in a Celbridge estate.

The incident occurred on Saturday 19 September at approximately 8:50pm.

All of the youths were covered up, and had gathered in the Castewellan Park estate.

One such house had it's front window smashed as a result of stones being thrown at the property.

Speaking on Kildare Today, Clane Garda Órlaith Fahy said there is a "big issue" with young people gathering in the estate as well as a nearby park.

Garda Fahy also highlighted important crime prevention advice regarding fireworks, emphasising that it is against the law to possess or have a firework, sell or supply fireworks without a licence, light fireworks or throw an ignited firework at any person or property.

These crimes hold a fine of up to €10,000, five years imprisonment, or both.

Fireworks can cause "severe injury & distress" as well as damage to property with fire, if the firework continues to burn after landing.

People are asked to contact the Confidential Number 1800666111 to confidentially report any issues they would like to raise regarding fireworks.

Leixlip Gardaí are appealing to the public if they saw these youths or have CCTV and can identify them to Report it to Gardaí.

Gardaí are requesting any witnesses contact them at Leixlip Garda Station at (01 6667800).
