Covid-19 Could Disrupt This Week's Premier League Schedule - Positive Cases Recorded In United & Villa Camps; UCL Last 16 Draw To Take Place This Morning

This morning's 'Kildare Today' will review local GAA weekend action

GAELIC GAMES

Following Saturday’s win over Kilkenny Glenmore by 1-16 to 1-10 on Saturday, Naas hurlers advance to the Leinster Intermediate final in early January.

They will play Oylgate of Wexford in the final.

Naas footballers play Shelmaliers of Wexford next Saturday, in the Leinster senior semi-final in Croke Park.

Maynooth hurlers lost their Leinster Junior semi final, 2-9 to 2-8 to Shamrocks of Offaly.

This morning’s 'Kildare Today' will have interviews with Naas manager Tom Mulally, players Ryan Boran, Cormac Gallagher, Jack Sheridan; and Maynooth manager Tom Walsh.

Covid-19 could be set to alter the Premier League schedule this week.

Both Manchester United and Aston Villa have had positive cases within their squads.

A number of players and staff at United returned positive Covid-19 lateral flow tests.

The Red Devils are set to play Brentford tomorrow, while Villa take on Norwich.

As things stand, both games are set to go ahead.

RUGBY

Munster got their Heineken Champions Cup campaign off to a winning start yesterday.

The southern province - who were without a number of players due to Covid-19 - beat Wasps 35-14 in Coventry.

Connacht ran in six tries in their 36-9 win over Stade Francais in Galway.

All four Irish provinces got off to a winning start this weekend, with Leinster and Ulster both winning their matches on Saturday.

FORMULA ONE

Red Bull boss Christian Horner insists they'll continue to fight any further action from Mercedes against Max Verstappen's victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that saw him crowned F1 world champion.

The Dutch driver overtook his rival Lewis Hamilton on the final lap having benefited from a safety car and a controversial restart.

Mercedes have had two appeals already rejected, but they say they intend to appeal against the decisions.
