Ireland face France in their final match of this season's under-20 Six Nations in Cardiff this afternoon.

Republic of Ireland legend Kevin Kilbane says he feels for the England players who missed penalties in the Euro 2020 final.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka failed to convert from 12 yards in England's loss to Italy in Sunday night's decider at Wembley.

Kilbane had a penalty saved against Spain at the 2002 World Cup and he says the pain lingered on well past the end of the game

Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk are both in action in Europe this evening.

Dundalk are well placed to book their spot in the second round of qualifying for the Europa Conference League.

Vinny Perth's side take a 4-nil lead into the away leg of their tie with Welsh side Newtown, which gets underway at a quarter-to-six.

But Rovers face an uphill task in the Champions League qualifiers.

They're 2-nil down ahead of welcoming Slovan Bratislava to Tallaght for an 8pm kick-off.

GAELIC GAMES

Defender Eric Lowndes has left the Dublin senior football panel ahead of their Leinster Football semi-final against Meath this weekend.

The St Peregrine’s clubman featured in all four of Dublin's matches in the league this summer.

The reigning All-Ireland champions are now stretched for defensive cover, with John Small, Jonny Cooper, Eoin Murchan and Robbie McDaid all doubts for Sunday's match at Croke Park.

Kildare will look to continue their fairytale run in the Leinster under-20 Hurling Championship tonight.

Having shocked Wexford last week, the Lilywhites travel to Offaly in the quarter-finals.

The other last-eight clash sees Kilkenny welcome Laois to Nowlan Park.

The GAA has confirmed that Croke Park will host the Muslim celebration of Eid Al Adha next Tuesday.

The Dublin stadium opened its doors for an event to mark Eid last summer and GAA President Larry McCarthy says they're "delighted" to do so again.

RUGBY

Ireland face France in their final match of this season's under-20 Six Nations in Cardiff this afternoon.

Richie Murphy's side's chances of retaining their title are slim heading in the quarter-to-five kick-off.

Ireland need England to lose to Italy without a bonus point and also record a bonus-point victory by more than 30 points against France.

CRICKET

Ireland play the second match of their one day cricket series with South Africa at Malahide today.

Rain meant there was no result in their first meeting on Sunday, with both sides taking five points in the World Cup Super League.

RACING

The going is yielding on the flat track and good on the national hunt ahead of today's eight race card at Killarney - where the first is off at twenty-past-four.

There's a five-past-two start for the seven-race meeting at Downpatrick.
