The 28 year old has recently returned from injury
Kildare’s Róisín Byrne has been honoured with The Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month award for January 2023.
The Sarsfields forward, 28, has been in scintillating form for the Lilywhites since returning from long-term injury problems this year.
Having recovered from shoulder issues to be named on the TG4 Intermediate Team of the Championship in 2020, Róisín unfortunately suffered anterior cruciate knee ligament damage in June 2021.
It’s been a long road back for Róisín but she appears to have lost none of her attacking instincts, playing a key role for Kildare in their impressive start to the 2023 Lidl National League Division 3 campaign.
In January, Róisín marked her return with a haul of 1-5 against Down before following up a week later with a tally of 2-5 in victory over Longford.
Róisín’s scoring form continued with seven crucial points against Clare, and she featured against Louth yesterday as Kildare suffered a first defeat of the League campaign.
Kildare now find themselves in joint second place in the Division 3 standings, alongside Wexford and Down on nine points, ahead of next Sunday’s crucial fixture away to Offaly.
Róisín was presented with her award this afternoon by Ina Lazar, Sales Manager, The Croke Park.
