Mona McSharry has finished fifth in the 100m breaststroke final at the World Aquatics Championships in Japan.

The Sligo swimmer was lying 2nd with less than 20 metres to go.

Earlier today, Daniel Wiffen advanced to the final of the 800-metres freestyle with a new Irish record time.

He has also booked a place in next year's Olympic Games.
