GAA

There was All-Ireland Championship action yesterday.

Louth had their first win at the All Ireland stage against Dublin since 1973.

A late goal from Craig Lennon saw them secure a place in round 2A with a 4-18 to 2-14 victory.

The other game of the round saw a late Monaghan fight back against Mayo in their opening round clash.

Monaghan scored six late points, but couldn't close the deficit as Mayo won 1-24 to 2-20

Round 2 of the All-Ireland championship will be announced on Tuesday.

The first team drawn in each pot will have home advantage.

The opening round winners will be drawn in Round 2A - that's Armagh, Cork, Donegal, Tyrone, Westmeath, Galway, Mayo and Louth.

While Round 2B's teams have one last chance - four of Cavan, Derry, Dublin, Kerry, Kildare, Meath, Roscommon and Monaghan will be eliminated from the competition if they lose.

In hurling, the All-Ireland Under-20 Championship Final between Galway and Clare was yesterday, with Clare putting together a strong performance to become champions.

Clare 4-20 Galway 2-16.

Manchester City secured their first domestic double in women's football with a 4-nil victory over Brighton in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Brighton fell behind in the 38th minute, despite making a bright start to the match.

Celtic ensured Glasgow rivals Rangers ended the season without silverware after beating them 1-nil in the final of the Women's Scottish Cup.

They held on to lift the trophy, despite having Scotland defender Emma Lawton sent-off with just over half-an-hour to go at Hampden Park.

The Kildare golfer finished third at the ShopRite LPGA Classic in New JErsey, ending the tournament on seven-under-par.

Leona Maguire also impressed, finishing tied for ninth, while Stephanie Meadow shared 21st place.

Meanwhile, Séamus Power finished tied for 54th at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas after ending the tournament level par.
