Shamrock Rovers have a four point lead at the top this morning, after their 3-nil win over Sligo Rovers.

Rory Gaffney scored twice for the Hoops in their victory.

Bohemians have dropped to fourth, after losing 2-1 to Cork City.

Elsewhere, Pat Hoban netted a hat-trick for Dundalk in a 4-1 win over UCD.

He has now equalled the club's scoring record by reaching a mark of 142 goals for the Lilywhites.

And Damien Duff's Shelbourne beat Drogheda United by three goals to two at Tolka Park.



In the First Division, leaders Galway and second placed side Waterford both won their matches by 6 goals to nil against Finn Harps and Kerry respectively.

Athlone Town were 3-1 winners over Bray Wanderers,

It ended Cobh Ramblers 1 Longford Town nil,

And Treaty United and Wexford played out a 1-1 draw.


Ange Postecoglou has agreed to become the new Tottenham Hotspur manager.

He's going to pen a two year deal in North London with the option of a third season.

Postecoglou recently guided Celtic to the treble in Scotland.

The 57 year old will hope to bring his assistant John Kennedy with him to the Premier League.


World Cup winner Alexis MacAllister is set to join Liverpool from Brighton.

The 24 year old Argentina midfielder has a release clause between 45 and 55 million pounds in his contract.

 

GAELIC GAMES

In the All Ireland Series round robin on Saturday, the Kildare senior footballers lost to Dublin by 0-22 to 0-13 in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny.

Kildare's third and final round robin game is against Roscommon on the weekend of the 17th of June with the neutral venue yet to be confirmed.


TENNIS

There's quarter final action today at the French Open in Paris.

This morning, Karolina Muchova goes up against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the last eight of the women's draw.

And second seed Aryna Sabalenka takes on Elina Svitolina.

Later, both Novak Djokovic and world number one Carlos Alcaraz take to the court in the men's quarter-finals.

Djokovic plays Karen Khachanov , while Alcaraz faces Stefanos Tsitsipas .


GOLF

Tom McKibbin's win at the European Open at the weekend has propelled the 20 year old from Holywood in County Down 173 places up the world rankings.

He's now 162nd in the world after his maiden success on the DP World Tour.
