Saturday Sport Update: Crucial Day For The Kildare Senior Footballers.

Kildare's men's footballers travel to the Athletic Grounds in Armagh this evening, for their fifth round game in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League.

The Lilywhites currently lie sixth in the table, with 3 points.

Armagh are in third position, with 5 points.

The Kildare team was named last night and is as follows:

In goal: Mark Donnellan (Maynooth)

Full backs: Mick O'Grady (Celbridge), Shea Ryan (Sarsfields), Ryan Houlihan (Moorefield)

Half backs: Jack Sargent (Eadestown), James Murray (Moorefield), Daragh Ryan (Sarsfields)

Centre field: Aaron Masterson (Moorefield) Kevin Flynn (Celbridge)

RUGBY
Ireland continue their Six Nations campaign this afternoon.

Andy Farrell's side are at Twickenham for a meeting with England from 4.45pm.

The visitors are looking to win at the London venue for the first time since 2018.
Eadestown's Tadhg Beirne starts, while Athy's Joey Carbery is among the replacements.

Elsewhere, the Stadio Olimpico hosts Scotland's clash with Italy at 2.15pm.

Leinster play Ulster in the United Rugby Championship at 7.35pm this evening.

Luke McGrath will captain Leinster for the interprovincial clash with the northern province, who won the reverse fixture at the RDS Arena in November.

He's partnered at half-back by Ross Byrne while there's a change in the midfield as Rory O'Loughlin comes in to partner Naas' Jamie Osborne.

Eadestown's Jimmy O'Brien retains the number 15 shirt with Kill's Adam Byrne and Tommy O'Brien are on the wings.

There's a new look front row of Ed Byrne, Kill's James Tracy and Michael Ala'alatoa.

Ross Molony and Joe McCarthy are the second row.

The back row is Rhys Ruddock, Scott Penny and Max Deegan.

Athy's Martin Moloney is named in the replacements

Liverpool can close the gap to Premier League leaders Manchester City to three points this afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp's side are at the Amex for a meeting with Brighton from 12.30pm.

There's a key game in the survival race at 3pm, when Brentford host Burnley.

And the evening kick-off features two European hopefuls, as Manchester United take on Tottenham.

Kick off at Old Trafford is at half five.

GOLF

The Players Championship could be heading for a Tuesday finish after day two was suspended due to persistent rain in Florida last night.

There won't be any play today until at least 4pm Irish time, due to a poor forecast.

Rory McIlroy and Seamus Power still have to complete their first rounds.

Power is one-under-par through 14 holes, while McIlroy is one-over with three to play.

Shane Lowry's also one-over, with three players sharing the lead on six-under.

BOXING

Naas native Gary Cully goes toe-to-toe with former world champion, Mexican, Miguel Vazquez tonight.

It's all part of the Leigh Wood and Michael Conlan card, as they headline with a WBA featherweight title fight at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.

Cully, at the moment, is 13-0 with 7 KO's and his opponent is 44-10 with 17 KO's.

HORSE RACING

An eight-race card at Gowran Park is underway from 1.25pm this afternoon.

While the first of eight races at Navan is off 15 minutes later at 1.40pm.
