Storm Betty played havoc with last night’s FAI Cup second round contests.

Galway United were 2-nil up away to UCD when the Belfield pitch was deemed unplayable at half-time.

While Cork City and Waterford’s tie has been pushed back to Monday due to the conditions at Turners Cross.

Jonathan Afolabi continued his astonishing scoring run as Bohemians thrashed Rockmount 6-nil.

A late and deflected Daryl Horgan strike saw Dundalk win 1-nil at Bray.

Drogheda were also 1-nil winners away to Kerry.

And Finn Harps put five without reply past Skerries Town.

ATHLETICS

It’s a busy day for Team Ireland as the World Athletics Championships get underway in Budapest.

David Kenny is the first member of the team into action in the men’s 20-K walk.

Eric Favors competes in the qualifying round of the shot put.

Kate O’Connor has her first two events in the Heptathlon.

The mixed 4-by-400 relay team are in the first heat of two.

And there’s plenty of Irish involvement in the women’s 1500, with Ciara Mageean, Sarah Healy and Sophie O’Sullivan all in the heats.


GOLF

Stephanie Meadow resumes five off the lead on day two of the ISPS Handa Invitational - she’s 2-over par.

Leona Maguire is 3-over.

Marissa Steen leads on 3-under.


RACING

There are two Group Twos down for decision as part of today’s eight-race card at The Curragh.

And there’s an all-flat card on the penultimate evening of Tramore’s August festival.
