The research was conducted by UCC.
A study of suspected concussions in inter-county hurling has found an "unacceptably high rate" of players are allowed resume play without adequate assessment.
Researchers at the UCC School of Medicine looked at league and championship matches in 2018 and 2019.
They found only 10 out of 43 players who showed one or more signs of concussion were removed from play.
